QTFA FAQ - ARTISTS

Thinking about joining Queer Tattoo Fest Amsterdam 2026? We're so glad you're here. Below you'll find answers to the most common questions from applying artists. Can't find what you're looking for? Please reach out through mail or DM!

Who can apply as an artist?

Queer Tattoo Fest Amsterdam is open to every queer artist! We welcome all styles, backgrounds, and experiences. Applications are open until the end of June, after which we'll review all submissions in July. We aim to bring together a wide variety of styles and people, and have space for around 40 artists.

How does the selection process work, and when will I hear back?

Applications close at the end of June. In July, our team will review all submissions. We aim to create a varied and balanced lineup, so we look at style, experience, and overall fit with the festival's spirit. You'll hear from us after the review period.

Can I apply as a duo or studio?

You can apply as a studio or duo, though please note this does not guarantee acceptance. We assess each application individually and look at the overall balance of the lineup.

Where is the festival?

This year, the festival will take place in de Hallen in Amsterdam West. For more information, you can check their website.

What does a booth include? (table, chair, lighting, power?)

Every artist receives a 2x2.5m stand with a bed, headlamp, 2 chairs and 2 tables (one for your work surface, one for merch). You'll also receive a welcome package with work supplies such as Vaseline packets, disinfectants, cardboard cups and stickers, with possibly more depending on our sponsors. Once selected, you can let us know if you'd like to add on extras such as a stool or armrest.

What booth sizes are available, and is there a fee?

The standard booth is 2x2.5m and costs €200 per day excluding VAT. Add-ons like a stool or armrest can be rented separately after selection.

Can I bring an assistant or apprentice?

Yes, you're welcome to bring an assistent!

Are walk-ins expected, or should I come with pre-booked clients?

Walk-ins are very much expected and encouraged! You can also take pre-bookings, though we recommend scheduling those in the morning so your afternoon stays open for walk-ins.

What hygiene and safety requirements do I need to meet?

All artists are expected to work according to standard Dutch GGD certified hygiene and safety practices.

Is there a table fee, and what does it cover?

The table fee is €200 per day excluding VAT. This covers your 2x2.5m stand with furniture and your welcome package with work supplies.

Do you offer travel or accommodation support for artists coming from abroad?

Unfortunately we are not able to offer travel or accommodation support at this time. We hope to be able to offer this in future editions!

What makes QTFA different from other tattoo festivals?

QTFA is more than a tattoo festival. It's a celebration of queer art, identity, and community. Expect good vibes, great art, music, workshops, performances and a whole lot of love. This is a space where you can be fully yourself, surrounded by people who get it.

Are there workshops or programming I can be part of as an artist

Yes! Throughout the weekend there will be workshops, performances and panel talks. If you have a fun idea or would like to be involved, please reach out to us. We'd love to hear from you!

Will there be a social event or artist dinner during the weekend?

We are working on hosting an artist dinner on the Friday evening before the festival kicks off. More details to follow soon!
